How alchemy works
The system in the shape the game data records it: one result, one or more exact combinations, and an ingredient list those combinations draw from.

A formula is the result, not the recipe
One formula can accept many exact combinations. Counting each combination as its own recipe would turn a small set of results into thousands of entries that all answer the same question.
A combination uses one, two or three ingredients
Not every combination fills all three slots, so each one is shown with exactly the slots it uses and in the order the game records them.
One entry per item
The game records several quality tiers of some materials, and no combination in that data produces a different result because of the tier. Each material is therefore counted once and links to the item page that covers every tier of it.
What this page can and cannot say
Every combination listed here is one the game data records. When a set of materials is not listed, the honest answer is that no result is documented for it — not that the game forbids it.

The path is read from the technology that opens the system, so it follows the progression data instead of a guide written from an earlier game.

How does alchemy work?
You combine one to three ingredients at an alchemy station, and each documented set of materials produces one result. The result is the formula; the sets that produce it are its combinations.
