Graveyard Keeper 2 Technology Points Guide
Learn where each type of Technology Point comes from, which sources are repeatable, and what to check when you don't have enough for your next unlock.
Current data coverageEvery source, amount and repeatability on this page is read from the currently available game data. Nothing here is copied from a walkthrough.
How Technology Points work
- 1
Perform an activity that awards Technology Points
- 2
Collect the points
- 3
Spend them on a technology whose requirements are met
Different activities award different point types and different amounts, and plenty of activities award none at all. Crafting a recipe, studying an item, performing an autopsy and clearing the world all feed the same three currencies, and the game records a separate award for each one.
Which Technology Points do you need?
Pick the problem you have and jump straight to the answer.
Planning a specific technology?
The planner walks the prerequisite chain and tells you what is still in the way.

Getting Technology Points from studying
Studying is the most common one-time award in the data: you bring an item to the Study Table and the game records a reward for that item. It is also the largest single source of Blue Points.
Studying at a glance
- Where do I study an item?
- At the Study Table. Every study award in the data is recorded against that station.
- What can be studied?
- 362 items in the current data carry a study reward, from raw materials and tools to food, fish, potions and body parts.
- What does studying consume?
- The item itself. The data records the studied item as the input of the study step.
- Can I study the same item twice?
- No. Every study award is recorded as one-time, so an item pays out its points once.
- Why can't I study a particular item?
- If the item is not in the list below, the current data records no study reward for it. The Study Table also only accepts what the game lets you place in it.

Technology Points from autopsy
An autopsy operation pays points on the part it extracts, so the reward follows the organ rather than the body. The same operation on the next corpse pays again.
Autopsy at a glance
- Which actions award points?
- The extraction operations at the Autopsy Table. Each one is recorded with its own award.
- Which point types?
- The extracted parts in the current data award Red and Blue Points, never Green ones.
- Is the reward repeatable?
- Yes, per corpse. An autopsy reward is recorded on the operation, not as a one-time unlock, so the next body pays again.
- Which body should I bring?
- The planner works from what a corpse still holds, so you can see which parts a body can still give up before you take it apart. The points themselves come from the extraction, not from the corpse.

Crafting, building and gathering
The three activities that award points while you work are separate reward paths, and they do not pay the same currencies.
Crafting
366 named recipes carry an award in the current data. The award belongs to the produced item, not to the workstation, so the amount changes with what you make rather than with where you make it.
45 of those recipes can be run by a station by itself, and the rest of the automation picture is covered below.
Building and placing
Placing a workstation or a structure is its own award: 75 placements in the data pay points, and a single placement can award all three types at once.
A placement pays once, when the object is placed.
Gathering and clearing
Trees, ore, plants, mushrooms and salvage pay smaller amounts, but they are the sources you meet first: 270 point-awarding world objects across 8 categories.
A world object has no official name of its own, so objects are listed by category and count instead of one row per object.

Talent upgrades
85 talent upgrades award points. Their reward depends on the talent rather than on a single action, so this guide counts them instead of listing each one as a source.
Technology Points and automation
Points are attached to what a recipe produces, so who does the work decides when and where the award lands. The data records how each recipe can be driven, which is what these counts are built from.
- Can a worker make it instead?
- 322 of the 366 point-awarding recipes in the data can be driven by a worker, so the production that earns the points does not have to be yours.
- Can a station run it by itself?
- 45 point-awarding recipes can be run by the station itself, and 56 can run on a conveyor line. Their award sits on the recipe output, so producing one still earns its points.
- Who receives the points when a worker does the work?
- Not fully resolved. The data records the award on the recipe rather than on the worker, so this guide does not claim that a worker-run production credits the points to you.
- When do the points arrive?
- The award sits on the finished output, so it belongs to the completed production rather than to starting it.
- Which recipes only pay when I make them myself?
- 44 point-awarding recipes have no automation path recorded at all, so they are the ones only you can produce.
Collecting and storing Technology Points
Technology Points are a resource like any other: they accumulate in a stock and are spent from it.
- Is there a cap?
- Yes. The current data records a ceiling for each type: Red Tech Points: stored up to 999 · Green Tech Points: stored up to 999 · Blue Tech Points: stored up to 999.
- What happens at the cap?
- The available data does not record what happens to an award that would go past the ceiling, so this guide does not claim a behaviour for it.
- Do uncollected points disappear?
- The data records no lifetime for an award you have not picked up. What it does record is where the award sits: on the finished recipe, on the studied item, or on the extracted body part.
Why didn't I get Technology Points?
Most missing points come from one of the causes below, and every one of them can be checked against the recorded rewards.
The action awards a different point type
Every source is recorded per type. A tree pays Red and Green Points and never Blue ones, and many crafting recipes pay Red only. Find the source in the explorer and read the awards column before assuming the action is broken.
Find the sourceThe reward is one-time and already claimed
Every study reward and every placement is recorded as one-time. Studying the same item a second time, or placing the same structure again, pays nothing. The repeatability column says which sources are which.
Find the sourceThe points belong to an earlier step
Several chains award points before the item you are looking at exists. Smelting, firing and pressing each pay on their own output, so the points arrive earlier in the chain than the finished item does.
The activity is not a source at all
Not every action awards points. The data records awards on recipes, study rewards, autopsy operations and world objects. An action that is not in the explorer is not a recorded source, not a hidden one.
I have the points, but the technology is still locked
Points are only half of the requirement. A technology can also need a prerequisite technology or a reputation gate, and what it unlocks stays unavailable until those are met.
Check the unlock pathA whole point type is missing for me
Blue Points are the usual case: their first source is studying, which needs the Study Table. If a type is empty for you, open its source list and read the requirement column before looking anywhere else.
Spending Technology Points
Points are spent once, when a technology is unlocked, and a technology whose requirements are not met cannot take them at all.
- Pick a technology
- Meet its prerequisites
- Pay its point cost
- Unlock it
Check what a technology costs
Search a technology to see its point cost before you commit anything to it.

Current version notes
- Which game data is this based on?
- Based on the currently available game data. The page is written for the released game, and its counts and amounts are regenerated whenever that data changes.
- What is not confirmed yet?
- A source whose name cannot be resolved from the official localization package is left out rather than shown as an internal id, and a behaviour the data does not record is marked as unresolved instead of being filled in from the first game.
